Put The Glass Down…

How heavy is this glass of water? Twelve ounces?  Sixteen ounces?  The absolute weight of the glass actually doesn’t matter, it depends on how long you hold on to it.  If you hold it for a minute, nothing happens.  If you hold it for an hour, your arm will begin to ache.  If you hold it all day long, your arm will get numb, and paralyzed.  While the weight of the glass has not changed, but the longer you hold on to it, the heavier it becomes.  The stresses and worries of life are like this glass of water.  If you think about them for a little while, there is no problem.  If you think about them for a little bit longer, then it begins to hurt.  If you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed and incapable of doing anything.  Always remember…put the glass down.

Be Open…

So, me & my family (my kids, sister & her kids & my mother) are awaiting eating at my oldest son’s favorite reastaurant, Applebee’s.  My 3 year old daughter cries to sit on my lap to play “Candy Crush” on my phone, so I oblige.  As I am watching her swipe across my phone sporadically, she starts singing in a low tone the following words:

“…I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire. Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion, cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar. Oh oh oh oh oh oh…”

She proceeded to sing the remainder of “Roar” by Katy Perry.  It was such a motivational moment.  It’s a special experience when you are aware and open to the messages that come through from the tiniest of people.  Needless to say, we played the song about 10 times as we drove an hour up the Jersey turnpike.  Princess Bugs really motivated me, so I hope that this song touches you the way it touched me.

Truth

G’morning all! To arrive at truth you must exit the road of illusion. By nature we are all creatures of habit. We become content with driving down the same highway of life passing the same scenery. From time to time we catch a glimpse of a sign telling of another reality but the unfamiliar brings about apprehension, so we stay where we are. Answer the beckon of truth. #BeDynamic or be forgotten!

The Gift Of Adversity

Within every adversity is a seed of equal or greater opportunity” ~Napoleon Hill

God will never put a dream in your heart, that He can’t put in your hand.  But you have to be prepared for it.  Thus brings about the adversity.  Over the past 3 years, I have learned to shift the way I see my adversities, to treat them as gifts, not enemies, transforming pain into purpose.  The first lesson that I learned, everything occurs in perfect timing.

Whatever you teach the world you get to learn & apply.  It has been said that we teach most what we need to learn.  And when we do that we invite those adversities and/or lessons into our lives.  So in the midst of that adversity that you are facing, go to a quiet place, and ask God, “I welcome this adversity.  What is it here to teach me?”.  That is the most powerful question to be asked because adversity is a gift wrapped in unattractive paper.

“Within every circumstance is a spiritual lesson.” ~James Allen

Once you get the lesson the circumstance will pass away, and new circumstance arises.  But when the same adversity keeps coming about, find that lesson, because once you do, you will be prepared to move forward.  As long as you’re alive, change is involved.  The day you stop growing is the day you die. When adversity comes, welcome it & ask “What is this here to teach me?”  But also take notice of the beginning quote.  There is a seed that needs nourished & taken care so that it can come forward.

“Work Is Love Made Visible”

“Work is love made visible. And if you can’t work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of the people who work with joy.” ~Khalil Gibran, The Prophet

My initial response to this quote was to be appreciative of the employment that you currently have, and even if you don’t love what you do, do it with love.  Realize the importance of what you do.  Your job is not just about you, it’s about the people you provide that good/service for and more important your family.  You provide the support to feed, clothe and even nurture.

But I’d like to go a little deeper than that.  “Work is love made visible”.  I have been coming across relationship issues but it seems that what is missing is that work that it takes to show the love.  When we love someone, you work like hell to make sure that you succeed in showing that love.  Then after a while, we get lazy and “fall back”.  When I say work, I’m talking about the little things that say you care.  Giving a hug, peck on the cheek, providing a meal, can be really simple actions but the most important aspect of this is where these actions come from.  There is a difference in doing something out of duty, and doing something out of love.  The sincerity is not displayed in the action itself but in the way it is presented.

Most people don’t equate the words work and love but they are a direct result of each other.  When you love something/someone you show it through the work you put in to maintain that relationship to get better and more successful.  But on the flip side of that is you’ll know whether someone loves you by the work that they put in.  So the next time you say or think you love someone, think about the work that you have put in to display that love…now what do you think?  Be blessed, #bedyanmic
